My dear Lucy, this is your first Christmas and what a very special gift you are to all of us.

“This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes,
rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart,
hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see,
friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe,
confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself,
patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”
-Lynnie Buttercup

Merry Christmas Lucy Pearl.

Grandma Jeanne's Visit

When your father texted, "Lucy is here", grandma Jeanne couldn't get to Dallas soon enough.  The two hour delayed flight seemed like eternity, and even though I was exhausted when we got to your home in the wee hours of the morning, it was difficult for me to fall asleep, anticipating seeing you.

And then there you were; you were everything I thought you would be and more.  From your perfect tiny fingers and toes to your full head of hair, your soft cheeks, and your baby new smell, and your cry, the sound of music to grandma.

I will take these first few days spent holding you, kissing your head, just looking at you while you sleep, while you cry, when others are holding you, and keep them safe within my heart, until I see you again.

I love you Lucy Pearl.

Black & White

Today, baby clothes are no longer confined to petite prints of pinks and blues.  There are prints of all colors and shapes, even in black and white.   So my dear Lucy, grandma Jeanne's first dress for you.

7 Months

You are now seven months. Your mother writes this is the "home stretch"; just those words produce an anticipating excitement for grandma Jeanne.  Grandma now gravitates to the baby section of stores, with very little self control, and browses the Amazon list your mother has created for you.

Five Months

My dear Lucy,  you are now five months.  Your mother records on her blog you are 9 inches tall and moving all around.  As I stare at you in this photo,  my heart explodes like fireworks, my thoughts travel through a life time, and my wishes for you are endless.

3 Months

You are 3 months along within your mother, and like all the other grandchildren, grandma Jeanne waits with excitement, anticipating the updates and ultrasound photos from your mother and father.  There is a place in my heart just for you.
